Ethical & Sustainable

Savile Clifford is committed to sustainabilty by using ethically sourced yarns & processes low on environmental impact. Working with local community projects to improve the local environment. We continue to develop skills of our workforce through modern apprentiships & student placement programs to futureproof our business.

Manufacturing Process

Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) is a global standard that recognises the best practices in animal health and welfare and land management.  It ensures the fibre has been ethically produced through every process of the supply chain from farm to finished fabric and requires every process to be audited and certified.  We are able to issue a Transaction Certificate for production orders to verify that our fabrics meet this standard.

We have been RWS certified by the Textile Exchange since 2019 and are currently working towards accreditation in GOTS cotton and linen certifications.

Many of our fabrics use the Eco Wash finishing process which uses 90% less water from a sustainable source, using natural soaps & no harmful chemicals to wash the fabric.

Supporting The Local Community

Savile Clifford is located in New Mill. As the name suggests, there has been textile manufacture in the village for many generations. We are committed to securing the continuation of this industry for generations to come.

We are dedicated to continuing a long tradition of textile manufacture in the area by employing the local community & offering modern apprenticeships. We have an ongoing student placement programme with the University of Huddersfield Fashion & Textile Design courses & support students for their final year projects.

Working with River Holme Connections to maintain the local environment through protection of the local river & woodland surrounding the mill.

We are committed to recycling waste fabrics & donate these to local schools, charities & community groups.
